Let’s understand What is BitLocker in Windows?
BitLocker is a feature which encrypts your system’s hard drive or any other removable drives to prevent cybercriminals or any other person from snooping into your personal and confidential data.
Now we have seen situations in which you are locked and cannot get into the windows because system keeps asking for BitLocker recovery key on every restart or you are unable to find BitLocker recovery key and you don’t know where to find it and sometimes you have BitLocker recovery key but want to disable the feature so that you don’t have to enter the key again and again. This article will help you to find BitLocker recovery key and how to disable it.
Find BitLocker recovery key from Microsoft website – You might have to use another device if your PC is locked with BitLocker key
Step 1: Login to Microsoft website
Visit the link https://login.live.com/ and sign with Microsoft account with which you log in to the system. Microsoft account can be any email which you have used to create a Microsoft account.
Step 2: Go to option “devices” as shown below
Step 3: Under devices, you will find your registered PC and there you will find an option to get a bit locker recovery key. If the PC is not your trusted PC, then the page will ask you to authenticate your login by entering a code sent to your email or by any other way you may have set.
In the above picture BitLocker is off but, in your case, BitLocker will be on and you have to click on BitLocker option to get the recovery key.
Once you get the 48 digits BitLocker Recovery key you can use it to unlock your system.

How to disable BitLocker
Press Windows + R on the keyboard and write services.msc in the run box.
Now locate “BitLocker Drive Encryption Services” and make a double click or make a right click on it and click Properties.
Now set the “Startup type” to Disabled
Now once BitLocker is disabled it will never ask for BitLocker recovery key again.

Solution 2 to Disable BitLocker
Open Windows 10 settings by pressing Windows Key+ I and open System settings and then go to “About” option and turn off the Device Encryption services.
Click on About and turn off the Device Encryption
When the confirmation box appears, click on turn off once again and it will turn off the device encryption.
In the Dell system, you can go to System BIOS by starting the system and keep tapping F2. It will take you to the BIOS and then uncheck the PTT security option to bypass the BitLocker recovery key prompt on every restart.
In case none of the above fixes resolve the BitLocker issue, then, in that case, you might have to reinstall Windows 10 which will wipe out all the data from the system. You can visit the below link to reinstall Windows 10.
