Overview: There are many users who are facing problems with Siri after installing macOS Mojave. Today in this post we will troubleshoot Siri issue and will get the Siri working on macOS Mojave.
So, let’s start with real user’s practical scenarios!
Scenario 1: Siri doesn’t work on Mac OS Mojave
I need help with my Siri application on my MacBook pro 13′ early 2015. I had already installed the latest version of Mojave (10.14), but it still not working at all; with High Sierra Siri was working, so I’m asking if the problem could be related with the new Mac OS software. Someone with the same problem that has found a solution? Thanks.

Scenario 2: Siri not working properly on macOS Mojave
Hi there, I have a MacBook Pro-2018 13″ touch bar model, with macOS Mojave 14.1. When I activate Siri on pref. panel, it works as it should for a while, but then, it begins to avoid responses. If I use the “Hey Siri” functionality or press Siri button on touch bar/menu bar/launchpad, it starts to listen, but then it lasts forever to respond and it always ends popping up the following message: “Sorry, I’m having trouble connecting to the network.” If I want to get back Siri working properly, I have to disable Siri from the pref. panel, delete Siri files from ~/Library/, and restart my mac. After that, I manage to get Siri’s working fine for a few minutes. But then, it starts again with the “Sorry, I’m having trouble connecting to the network” message. Siri will not work until I repeat the process. And again, and again. Any idea of what’s happening? Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Like the above two users there are multiple Mojave users who are facing the issue with the Siri, let’s go ahead and fix this.
Solution 1: Toggle On & Off Button for Siri
After the recent OS update, it is seen that Siri does not work because Siri somehow goes off. Make sure Siri is on. Go to Apple menu and select System Preferences, click on Siri and check if Enable Ask Siri is selected. If Siri is already on then turn off and turn on again.
Solution 2: Check Internet Connection
If Mac is not connected to the internet you might receive an error “Sorry, I’m having trouble connecting to the network,” or “Try again in a little while.”
Make sure that Mac is connected to the network for the Siri to work.
Solution 3: Remove Restriction for Siri to Function
In case you are unable to turn on Siri on Mac then there might be a possibility that Siri is disabled in Restrictions.
Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences, choose Parental Controls and click on Other and check that Turn off Siri & Dictation isn’t selected.
Solution 4: Check Microphone
When the microphone is not working properly then Siri might not hear you and respond to your question.
Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences, select Sound and click on Input, select a mic and check the input levels.
Solution 5: In case Siri Does Not Speak Responses
In case Mac is on Mute or Voice Feedback is turned off then Siri might not respond.
Go to the Apple Menu and select System Preferences and choose Siri and make sure Siri Voice Feedback is on.
Solution 6: Create Another Account on Mac
- Go to the Apple menu, select System Preferences and then click on Users & Groups.
- Click on the lock icon to unlock it, put your administrator name and password.
- Now click on Add or Plus icon to create new account
- Click the New Account pop-up menu and then choose a type of user i.e. Administrator or Standard user and put all the necessary details and Click on Create User.
Now check Siri under the new account, in case, Siri behaves normally then old profile may have gone corrupt.
