[Fixed] Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Errors, Crashing, Freezing, FPS and Connectivity Issue
Overview: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a single player action game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. The game released on October 5, 2018. There are many users who are facing crashing, loading, launching, freezing, low FPS and connectivity issue with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. All the troubleshooting applies to PC gamers.
So, let’s start with real user’s practical scenarios!
Scenario 1: ACOD Update 1.06. Crashes continue | Forums
I’ve had the game since launch day and it’s been crashing every couple of hours. That was, until 2 weeks ago. Now it crashes every few minutes. I’m trying to get the Spartan Seals from the Polemarchs and every few minutes the game either freezes and crashes or the graphics glitch out (while using Ikaros) so I can’t see anything. And, of course, I can’t save because I’m in a fort. So I have to do the same thing over and over again. I must have submitted over a dozen crash reports. This is the only Ubisoft game I have that does this. All my Ubisoft games will bug out if I don’t disable/remove my joystick HOTAS, but ACOD is the only game to repeatedly crash. 29 hours playtime, only, out of 3 weeks owning the game.

Scenario 2: Assassin’s Creed BSOD Issue | Forums
Hi, I’ve bought the game a few days ago but I wasn’t able to play more than 10 minutes without encountering a BSOD with the “WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR”. I’ve been checking the dump files and the error seems to be related to “AuthenticAMD”. This issue only happens in this particular game, and it is the first time it ever happened on my PC. The dump files clearly indicate that the issue comes from ACOdyssey.exe. I doubt that my spec is the problem (AMD fx 8350 4GHz, Geforce GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, Windows 10). Thanks for any help.

Scenario 3: 30 FPS Lock Causing Stutters ACOD
The 30 FPS lock in this game actually locks the game to 31 FPS causing very small but annoying stutters. The same thing happened in Origins I believe.

Solution 2: Perform Hard Reset.
Most of the time hard reset fixes the issue. Unplug all external devices from your computer. The only devices you should leave connected to your computer are your monitor, mouse, and keyboard if the computer is a desktop. Now Shut down your desktop and unplug the power cable from the desktop.
In case of laptop unplug the charger and remove the battery if applicable.
Now press and hold the power button down for approximately 15-20 seconds then plug in the power cable back to the desktop. Plug in the battery and charger back in case of laptop and start the system and launch Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In case the issue still persists move on to the next step.
Solution 3: Verify or Repair Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Uplay/ Steam

Follow the below steps
Navigate to the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\[The game that is crashing i.e Assassin’s Creed Odyssey]\Support
See the pic, here the game is The Crew but it will be Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in your case
The support folder will have another folder named Software so open this folder.
Pic Courtsey-UbiSoft
In the Software folder, it will contain installer packages for the supporting software Assassin’s Creed Odyssey requires. You will also see Uplay installer, please ignore Uplay.
Reinstall the other software contained in that folder. In case it prompts that you already have newer versions installed then cancel the installation and move on reinstalling the next.
Once the installation is done, please restart your PC and test the ACOD again.
Solution 6: Run Uplay/Steam and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey game as an Administrator
Right-click the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey desktop shortcut.
If you don’t have one, look for the yourgamename.exe file in the executable file in the INSTALLATION DIRECTORY
Select Properties, click on the Compatibility tab and check the box at the bottom under settings where it says Run this Program as an administrator and Click Apply and OK.
Steam Users can follow the same steps
Solution 7: Use Benchmark Tool
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey has built-in benchmark option which allows you to check how good the game is playing with the current settings.
You can get access to the tool from the Title Menu > Benchmark.
Use Benchmark tool to fine tune your game’s settings and get the most out of your PC and the Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey game.
Make changes to the graphics settings
The best way to boost performance is to make changes in the display or graphics settings. To do so, go to the main menu, select Options, then click on the Display or Graphics tab.
There is a lot of options for you to make changes. In case of FPS drops, try to lower the quality preset. There is a Resolution setting under the Display tab in the options menu. Set it to the lower. Also, change the Adaptive Quality setting. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey has a Dynamic Resolution rendering technology that adjusts the resolution on the fly to make sure that the framerate is as close as possible to the target. It will help to ensure a consistent FPS. You can set the baseline FRAMERATE by using the Adaptive Quality setting. This setting is under the Graphics tab.
A low number will ensure smoother gameplay if your system just meets the minimum system requirement.
You can experiment with other settings under the Graphics tab. Each setting has a different impact on performance, doing so may help to find the perfect setting to play Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey smoothly.
Always Keep an eye on the VRAM meter, when the bar is filled the system is reaching its limits and may struggle to run the game smoothly.

Solution 8: For Connectivity Issue Power Cycle Your Router and PC
Shut down the system, power off the router/modem
Wait for 60-80 seconds and plug the power cable back to the router/modem. It may take a few minutes for all the light to come up. Start the computer and launch Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.
Solution 9: Add Exception to Antivirus and Firewall/Disable Windows Firewall and Multiple Antivirus
In case you are facing Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey loading, launching or connectivity issue then it might be antivirus or firewall which does not allow the game to load because it recognizes game files as potentially harmful and blocks it from running. Add exceptions for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. Call your Antivirus company if you need help in adding an exception for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.
Most of the time Antivirus causes your game to crash or freeze so if you have multiple security running on the system then disable all the antivirus except one or try switching to another antivirus if one particular antivirus is causing the issue.

Hamachi), VoIP applications (e.g. Teamspeak, Ventrillo), Video chat services (e.g. Skype), Streaming applications (e.g. Xsplit),Peer-to-Peer software (e.g. uTorrent / BitTorrent),Virtualising software (e.g. Vmware) as these software conflicts with the Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey game.
