Troubleshooting Guide to Fix Sea of Solitude Crashing, Freezing, Errors, Low FPS and Graphics Issue on PC

Check the System Requirement

Most of the issues occur when your computer does not meet the minimum system requirement to play the game, you may experience significant problems while playing Sea of Solitude game, so please make sure your PC meets the minimum configuration to play Sea of Solitude. Both Minimum and recommended PC requirement is mentioned below. For best gaming experience recommended configuration is preferred.

Minimum System Requirement to Play Sea of Solitude

Recommended to Play Sea of Solitude

Operating System: Windows 10

Architecture: 64 bit

Direct X: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent

System Memory: 16GB

Processor: Intel i5 4690K or Equivalent or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or Equivalent

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or Equivalent or AMD Radeon R9 290 or Equivalent

Hard Drive Space: 2GB

Perform Hard Reset.

Most of the time hard reset fixes the issue. Unplug all the external devices from your computer. The only devices you should leave connected to your computer are your monitor, mouse, and keyboard if the computer is a desktop. Now Shut down your desktop and unplug the power cable from the desktop.

In case of laptop unplug the charger and remove the battery if applicable.

Now press and hold the power button down for approximately 15-20 seconds then plug in the power cable back to the desktop. Plug in the battery and charger back in case of the laptop and start the system. Now Launch Sea of Solitude. In case the issue still persists move on to the next step.

Loading or Launching Issue Sea of Solitude

Make sure to add Sea of Solitude to the Windows firewall. In case of third-party antivirus, add an exception for Sea of Solitude game, also run Sea of Solitude as an administrator.

  • Type in Windows Defender in the windows search box to open Windows Security.
  • Click on Virus & threat protection
  • On the next screen under Ransomware protection click on Manage ransomware protection.
  • Under Controlled folder access, click on allow an app through Controlled folder access
  • and then click on Add an Allowed app and select Browse all apps to add Sea of Solitude exe.

If the issue still persists, repair the game in Origin.

  • Go to Origin and click on My Game Library, make a right click on Sea of Solitude and then click on Repair
  • Once the repair is finished, restart your PC and launch Sea of Solitude.

Run Origin and Sea of Solitude as an Administrator

  • Right-click the Sea of Solitude desktop shortcut and click on Properties.
  • If you don’t have one, look for the yourgamename.exe file in C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/Sea of Solitude
  • Click on the Compatibility tab and check the box at the bottom under settings where it says Run this Program as an administrator and Click Apply and OK.

Restart your Sea of Solitude.

Delete Settings and Repair Sea of Solitude

Please note that this step will delete the settings you have customized, your key bindings and video settings as you had them.

Navigate to the path as shown below

  • This PC>C:>Users>XYZ>Documents>Sea of Solitude>settings. XYZ is your username.
  • Delete Everything in this folder
  • Go to Origin and click on My Game Library, make a right click on Sea of Solitude and then click on Repair
  • Once the repair is finished, restart your PC and launch Sea of Solitude.

This step will also fix the Sea of Solitude freezing issue.

Fix Low FPS & Crashing Sea of Solitude

Close all the background apps running.

Turn off V-sync and G-sync.

You can also try the following workarounds:

Step 1

  • Open Nvidia Control Panel by making a right click on the desktop
  • Select Manage 3D Settings and go to the Program Settings and select Sea of Solitude from the drop-down list (If you don’t see the game in the list click on Add and find the game in the list, you may also have to click on Browse and find the game)
  • After selecting the game, set preferred graphics processor to High performance Nvidia processor and go below to find Power Management set it to Prefer Maximum Power

AMD users

  • Open Radeon Settings. Make a right click on an empty space on the desktop and select AMD Radeon Settings from the menu.
  • Select System 
  • Select Switchable Graphics, under Switchable Graphics, select the game (if it is not in the list you can add it by using the Browse option and select the .exe-file of the game) Select High Performance for the game from the drop down option.
  • Click Apply
  • Close Radeon Settings and launch the game.

Step 2

  • Type Graphics Settings in the Windows search box and open Graphics Settings. Classic App should be selected by default. Click on Browse and select the .exe file of Sea of Solitude game.
  • Now click on Options after it has been added and Select High Performance option when it prompts the new window and click on Save.
  • Now go to the installation directory and launch the .exe file of Sea of Solitude as an administrator. Avoid using the desktop shortcut.

Step 3

  • Launch Origin
  • Go to My Game Library and make a right click on Sea of Solitude game and select Game Properties
  • Click on Advanced Launch Options and put in Command Line Arguments: +fps_max 75. (You can also try lower setting (100, 90, 80, etc.)

Update Graphics Drivers to Run Sea of Solitude

Visit your system manufacturer’s website to update system BIOS and all the necessary driver especially the graphics card driver.

NVIDIA Users: GeForce Experience can be used to check and update the drivers automatically, visit the below link to auto update or update it manually. Nvidia has released a new driver for Sea of Solitude game which can be downloaded from the below link. Click on Download for Automatic Driver Updates from the below link and download GeForce Experience and use GeForce Experience to check and update the drivers automatically

AMD Users: Visit the below link to autodetect or manually select your driver.

Fix Audio/Sound Issue Sea of Solitude

Update the Audio driver from the system manufacturer website. Make sure Windows sound is not on mute. Make a right click on the speaker icon on the bottom right of your screen and click on Sounds and go to Playback tab and disable all the sound devices except the internal speaker or the speaker which you want to use.

Also, try changing the audio from surround sound to stereo.

If you face low sound or any issue with the audio, make sure to update audio driver and run Troubleshoot Sound problems by making a right click on Windows speaker icon.

Fix Launch Error Access is Denied Problem with Sea of Solitude

The cause seems to be RGB controllers and RGB services such as Corsair iCue, Asus Aura, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and EVGA lighting including third-party lighting services.

  • Update Sea of Solitude Game.
  • Uninstall all the lighting software and restart your computer.
  • In case, you never installed RGB software then uninstall and reinstall Origin.

Fix Black Screen Issue Sea of Solitude

Use ALT + ENTER key on the keyboard to go to Windows mode in case you can hear the sound in the background. If not fixed, repair Sea of Solitude in Origin, try running the game in Windowed mode. In case the issue is not resolved, uninstall and reinstall the game.

Click on Origin on the top left-hand side
Click on Application Settings

Close programs and overlays running in the background like Discord overlay, GeForce Experience Overlay, TeamSpeak, Origin in-game and FPS counter, Asus GPU Tweak II, MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, Shadowplay, Aura for ASUS, RivaTuner OSD, RivaTuner statistics, GeForce Experience, Radeon ReLive, Voicemeeter, FRAPS, OBS studio, Razer Synapse 3, Razer Cortex, and Razer Chroma Kit.

Update Windows 10

Open Windows 10 setting by pressing Windows + I key on the keyboard, then click on Update & Security, now click on Check for updates to update Windows 10.

Perform Clean Boot

  • Type in msconfig in Windows search box and click on System Configuration.
  • Click the Services tab and check the box to Hide all Microsoft Services, then click the Disable All button.
  • Now click on the Startup tab, then click on Open Task Manager.
  • Click each of the Startup programs in the list then click the Disable button. Disable all.
  • Close the Task Manager window.
  • Click OK on the System Configuration window to save your changes.

Restart the system and try launching Sea of Solitude game again.

Stop the Windows 10 Apps From Running in the Background

Open Windows 10 setting by pressing Windows + I key on the keyboard, click on Privacy and then scroll down and select Background apps and disable all the apps which you do not need.

Doing this will run Sea of Solitude smoothly.

Add Exception to Antivirus and Firewall/Disable Windows Firewall and Multiple Antivirus

In case you are facing Sea of Solitude loading or launching issue then it might be antivirus or firewall which does not allow the game to load because it recognizes game files as potentially harmful and blocks it from running. Add exceptions for Sea of Solitude. Call your Antivirus company if you need help in adding an exception for Sea of Solitude.

Most of the time Antivirus causes your game to crash or freeze so if you have multiple security running on the system then disable all the antivirus except one or try switching to another antivirus if one particular antivirus is causing the issue.

Uninstall and Reinstall Sea of Solitude

If somehow game files have gone corrupt then uninstalling and reinstalling Sea of Solitude may fix the issue.

In order to uninstall the game, log in to the Origin and click on My Game Library, make a right click on Sea of Solitude and then click on Uninstall.

After uninstall restart the system and then reinstall the Sea of Solitude and launch the game.

Reinstall Windows 10

Sometimes corrupt OS does not allow you to play the game properly. Reinstalling Windows 10 may fix the issue.
