Fix Launching Minecraft Launcher Opens Gaming Services On Microsoft Store

 

If clicking on Minecraft Launcher play button On Xbox App opens Gaming Services On Microsoft Store then please follow the steps provided in this post to fix redirection to gaming services on opening Minecraft Launcher on Windows 10/11 PC.

 

Step 1) Install Gaming Services

When you launch Minecraft Launcher and when it redirects to Microsoft Store showing Gaming Services then if you see install option to install Gaming Services then click on Install, if there is no install button then skip this step.

Step 2) Repair/Reset Gaming Services

Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings, now go to Settings/Apps/Apps & Features/type Gaming Services in the search box/click on Gaming Services/Advanced Options/Click on Repair. If not resolved click on Reset.

Windows 11 users click on the three dots in front of Gaming Services to go to the Advanced Option, then perform Repair/Reset.

If Gaming Services is missing in Apps & Feature then skip this step.

Step 3) Get Updates On Microsoft Store

Open Microsoft Store, on the bottom left you will find Library option, click on Library, on the top right corner you will see the option “Get Updates” click on it, once all the updates are installed restart your PC and launch Minecraft Launcher.

Step 4) Uninstall & Reinstall Gaming Services

Type in PowerShell in Windows Search box, make a right click on Windows PowerShell and click on Run as administrator. Now copy and paste the command provided below in PowerShell window.

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

This will uninstall gaming services, now on the same PowerShell window paste the below command:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

This will open Microsoft Store, it will show Gaming Services with the Install button. Click on Install to install Gaming Services, once installed launch Minecraft Launcher.

Step 5) Make Changes In The Registry

Type in Registry Editor  in Windows Search box to open Registry Editor. Go to the path provided below, make a right click on GamingServices & GamingServicesNet to delete it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet

Delete GamingServices & GamingServicesNet and restart your PC- Restart is a must.

After the system restart open PowerShell as an administrator, now uninstall gaming services once again using the command provided below:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

Now Install gaming services the from the command provided below:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Step 6) Uninstall & Reinstall Minecraft Launcher

Type in Minecraft Launcher in Windows Search box, make a right click and click on Uninstall. Restart your PC after uninstall.

Open Microsoft Store/Xbox App, search Minecraft Launcher using the Search box and install Minecraft Launcher.

Step 7) Uninstall and Reinstall Minecraft Launcher From Minecraft website

Uninstall Minecraft Launcher once again, restart your PC, this time visit Minecraft website provided below:

https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download

Click on DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS 10/11, install it and open Minecraft Launcher. Still not resolved then uninstall Minecraft launcher once again. On the same Minecraft website you will find an option DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS 7/8 to install Windows 7/8 version of Minecraft Launcher. Install it and open Minecraft Launcher.
