Check the Minimum System Requirement to Play Forza Horizon 4

If your system does not meet the minimum system requirement to play this game then you will definitely have difficulty playing this game so make sure your device meets the minimum system requirement and for the best experience your system should meet the recommended system requirement.

Both minimum and recommended system requirements are mentioned below.

FH001

This is because of missing Visual C++ redistributable. Click here to install it.

FH101

The game needs a minimum of 4 CPU logical processors, if the system does not meet it you will receive this error.

FH201

The video card does not support the DX12 which is the minimum system requirement to play Forza Horizon 4.

FH202

Video card memory is less than 2 GB.

FH203

The video card does not support the DX12 which is the minimum system requirement to play Forza Horizon 4.

FH204

The video card does not support the DX12 which is the minimum system requirement to play Forza Horizon 4.

FH301

The video card needs to be updated. Update AMD and Nvidia graphics card, .

FH401

Less system memory, anything less than 8 GB will throw this error.

FH501

Perform Hard Reset.

Most of the time hard reset fixes the issue. Unplug all the external devices from your computer. The only devices you should leave connected to your computer are your monitor, mouse, and keyboard if the computer is a desktop. Now Shut down your desktop and unplug the power cable from the desktop.

In case of laptop unplug the charger and remove the battery if applicable.

Now press and hold the power button down for approximately 15-20 seconds then plug in the power cable back to the desktop. Plug in the battery and charger back in case of the laptop and start the system. Now Launch Forza Horizon 4. In case the issue still persists move on to the next step.

Disable or Uninstall Apps

Forza MotorSport has come up with the list of applications responsible for game launching and crashing issue. Please uninstall or disable these applications to avoid crashing. Below is the list of apps:

  • Xsplit
  • MacType

Sign Out of Multiple Accounts

In case you are logged in to the Microsoft store with multiple accounts then you have to log out from other accounts.

Now click on the profile picture located on the top right corner and sign out of all account except the account which you have used to purchase the game.

This pic shows only one account but in case of multiple accounts you will see other accounts too so please log out from other accounts.

Now keep only that account which you have used to purchase the game.

Now Reset Microsoft Store- type wsreset in Windows search box and click on wsreset run command to reset Microsoft store, the reset may take few seconds, so wait until Microsoft store opens up.

Now download the game, in case you have already downloaded the game then uninstall it and reinstall it once again. Please note you will lose all the progress in the game when you uninstall it.

To uninstall it open Apps & Feature by typing Apps & Feature in Windows search box and then click on uninstall.

Now restart your PC and reinstall it from Microsoft Store.

Solution 5: Update Graphics Drivers

Visit your system manufacturer’s website to update system BIOS and all the necessary driver especially the graphics card driver.

NVIDIA Users: GeForce Experience can be used to check and update the drivers automatically, visit the below link to auto-update or update it manually.

Restart your system and launch Forza Horizon 4

Update Windows 10

If Windows 10 is not up to date you might face crashing and many other issues so please update Windows 10.

Open Windows 10 Update settings by typing Check for Updates in Windows search box and click on Check for Updates.

After the update is complete restart the system and launch the game.

Use the Administrator Account

Log in to the system using the Administrator account. Using an administrator account fixes a lot of issues.

Once the tool is downloaded run it and then Select Windows Store Apps and then click on Next

It should identify the issue and fix it as shown below if you receive any error while fixing run it once again. In my case, I ran two times to fix it.

Now close the troubleshooter, restart your system and launch the game.

Check the Date and Time on Your PC

Make a right-click on the date and time on the bottom right of your screen and then click on Adjust Date/Time as shown below.

Make Sure Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically is on. If its already on then switch off and then switch it on once again.

Disable Development Mode

Type in Powershell in Windows search box and open Windows Powershell as an administrator, you have to make a right click on Powershell to open it as an administrator.

Now copy the below command and paste into the Powershell windows and then hit enter on the keyboard.

After you hit enter it will disable the Development mode.

Restart the system and launch the game.

Update the Game from Microsoft Store

This will fix almost all the known problems associated with the game. Since the release of Forza Motor Sport and Microsoft, both are working diligently releasing patches and updates to fix all the known issues. So, updating the game should fix the majority of the issues. Steps are shown below

Now click on the three dots () located on the top right corner and then click on Downloads and updates

Click on Get Updates– this will update all the apps including the game if there are any updates available.

Once it updates successfully it will say You’re good to go.

Now restart the system and launch the game.

Perform Clean Boot

Type in msconfig in Windows search box and click on System Configuration.

Click the Services tab and check the box to Hide all Microsoft Services, then click the Disable All button.

Now click on the Startup tab, then click on Open Task Manager.

It can take a few seconds for the Task Manager list to load.

Click each of the Startup programs in the list then click the Disable button. Disable all.

Click OK on the System Configuration window to save your changes.

Restart the system and try launching Forza Horizon 4 game again.

Stop the Windows 10 Apps From Running in the Background

Open Windows 10 setting by pressing Windows + I key on the keyboard, then click on Privacy and then scroll down and select Background apps and disable all the apps which you do not need.

In this way, it will run Forza Horizon 4 smoothly.

Add Exception to Antivirus and Firewall/Disable Windows Firewall and Multiple Antivirus

In case you are facing Forza Horizon 4 loading or launching issue then it might be antivirus or firewall which does not allow the game to load because it recognizes game files as potentially harmful and blocks it from running. Add exceptions for Forza Horizon 4. Call your Antivirus company if you need help in adding an exception for Forza Horizon 4.

Most of the time Antivirus causes your game to crash or freeze so if you have multiple security running on the system then disable all the antivirus except one or try switching to another antivirus if one particular antivirus is causing the issue.

Use Wired Connection

We strongly stress the use of ethernet connection. Ethernet connection will always provide optimal performance while playing online Forza Horizon 4. Type cmd in the Windows search box and then make a right-click on Command Prompt to Run as an Administrator.

When the command prompt opens, type ipconfig/flushdns and press Enter.

Repeat the same process for below commands.

Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.

Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.

Reboot your computer and launch Forza Horizon 4.

Uninstall the Game and Reinstall the Game Under New Administrator Account

In case all the above steps do not work then uninstall the game as explained under the title “Sign Out of Multiple Accounts” in the very beginning of the post.

After you uninstall the game create another Administrator account. Now login to the Microsoft Store using the same account which you have used to buy Forza Horizon 4 and then reinstall the game from your game library.

To create another Administrator account open Windows 10 setting by pressing Windows + I key together on the keyboard.  Go to Accounts and then click on Family & other people and then click on the + sign which says Add someone else to this PC then enter all the details required to create a new account.

Once the new account is created click on the new account and then click on Change account type and select Administrator from the drop-down option and then click OK.

Restart your system, on the Windows login screen use the new admin account to log in and then log in to the Microsoft Store using the account which you have used to buy Forza Horizon 4 and then reinstall the game from your game library. This also fixes error “0X803F81F5 too many devices”.
