Fix Error Code (0x8007042b) When Launching Xbox Game Pass Game On PC


Please Follow The Steps Provided In This Article To Fix Error Code (0x8007042b) When Starting/Opening Any Xbox Game Pass Game On Windows 10/11 PC

Step 1) Restart Your Computer

Most of the times a simple restart fixes the error, restart your PC and try launching the game.

Step 2) Create Desktop Shortcut

Open Xbox App, on the left panel you will see the list of all the installed games, hover the mouse cursor on the game which is giving you the error message, you will see  three vertical dots, click on it and then click on Create a desktop shortcut. Now go to the desktop, find your game shortcut, make a double click to launch the game.

Step 3) Run The Game As An Administrator

In step 2 we have already created desktop shortcut of the game, this time make a right click on the desktop shortcut and click on Run as administrator.

Step 4) Repair/Reset The Game

Open Windows + I to open Windows Settings, go to Apps/Apps & Features, now find the game on the list, click on it and then click on Advanced Options, Windows 11 users click on three dots and then click on Advanced Options, scroll down and click on Repair. After the repair launch the game, if not resolved, try Reset.

Step 5) Run WSRESET Command

Type in wsreset in Windows search box, click on it, this will open a black screen, this black screen will go away in few seconds or may be a minute. Once black screen is gone, it will open Microsoft Store, try launching the game now.

Step 6) Run PowerShell Command

Type in PowerShell in Windows search box, make a right click on Windows PowerShell and click on Run as administrator, copy and paste the command provided below:

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Once done launch the game.

Step 1) Restart PC

Step 5) Delete Microsoft Store Local Cache Files
Step 6) Login with same account in Xbox app and Microsoft Store app
Step 7) Install all the Updates in Microsoft Store
Step 8) Update Windows
Step 9) Run wsreset command
Step 10) Repair/reset Xbox app/Store
Step 11) Run this command
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
Step 12) Start all these services
IP Helper
Xbox Live Auth Manager
Xbox Live Game Save
Xbox Live Networking Service
Gaming services
Windows Update
Microsoft install service
Step 13) Uninstall and reinstall gaming services
Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
Install Xbox Identity provider
Xbox Identity Provider:
Step 14) Uninstall and Reinstall the game
Step 15) Update Windows using media creation tool
