So, let’s start with the real user’s practical scenarios!

Scenario 1: Constant Freezes/Crashes on PC. Unplayable. Battlefield 5

Like the title says – I have constant freezes with Battlefield V on PC. Whenever it does, my PC does as well – I can’t alt-tab nor go to the task manager. I can’t even push the physical reset button. Only 5 seconds on my power button does the trick. I was not able to play a single round in multiplayer – and in singleplayer it occurs after 5-10 minutes. Sometimes even on startup of the game. Newest Nvidia-Driver is installed. Same happened before I installed it. Beta ran fine without issues. Haven’t had any changes to my systems hardware since then.

Scenario 2: Game not Launching. Battlefield V

Hi, I am having trouble launching the game. The only thing I see when the game starts is: EA, then DICE, then Frostbite. After that there is the blue background and music, but no thing else. I have newest graphics driver. Windows 10,Geforce GTX 970M,16 GB Ram,Intel core I7-4710HQ 2.5GHz. I have tried uninstalling and installing the game, and lots other for 3 hours now. Does anybody have a tips? Thanks!

Issue with War story rewards unlocks

You earn melee weapon or tank skin when you complete a War Story. You obviously finish all challenges and collect all letters. It is seen sometimes that War Stories menu does not match breakdown you see in Acts or Letters. For example you see 5/5 letters in Overview but 3/5 under the letters. Now when it does not match. you don’t receive the reward.

In order to fix this follow the workaround mentioned below

  1. Turn off Cloud Saves in Origin.
  • Open Origin’s Application Settings.
  • Click Installs & Saves.
  • Under Cloud Storage, toggle the slider to 0.

2) Rename your Battlefield V settings folder.

  • Find the Settings folder inside the Battlefield V folder in My Documents.
  • Rename it to something like Settings_old.

3) Launch Battlefield V and play the War Story again – making sure to catch the “missing” letters and challenges this time.

  • Once there are no gaps in the record you should get your reward.

Add Exception to Antivirus and Firewall/Disable Windows Firewall and Multiple Antivirus

In case you are facing Battlefield 5 loading or launching issue then it might be antivirus or firewall which does not allow the game to load because it recognizes game files as potentially harmful and blocks it from running. Add exceptions for Battlefield 5. Call your Antivirus company if you need help in adding an exception for Battlefield V.

Most of the time Antivirus causes your game to crash or freeze so if you have multiple security running on the system then disable all the antivirus except one or try switching to another antivirus if one particular antivirus is causing the issue.

Perform Disk Cleanup

Run Disk Cleanup, open disk cleanup by typing Disk Cleanup in Windows 10 search box as shown below:

Once Disk Cleanup is open put a check mark in front of the all the list and then click on Clean up system files

Once you click on Clean up system Files it will pop up a window with C drive selected, hit ok. It will again bring up disk cleanup windows again, put a check in front of all the list and then hit ok to clean the disk.

Correct Windows 10 Virtual Memory/Pagefile

If the Windows 10 virtual memory is not set right, there is a chance of crashing and freezing issue with Battlefield 5.

In Windows search box type in System and click on System as shown below.

Now click on Advanced System Settings

On System Properties Window under the Advanced tab click on Settings as shown below

On Performance Option Window under advanced click on Change

On Virtual Memory window, uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.

From the list, select the drive on which Windows 10 is installed. (C: in most cases is already selected) click to select the Custom size radio button. Now type the minimum and maximum size of the Pagefile in megabytes (MB) according to the physical memory present in your computer.

Now how to calculate Windows 10 Virtual Memory: Initial size is one and a half (1.5) x the amount of total system memory. Maximum size is three (3) x the initial size. So, in this system we have 8 GB (1 GB = 1,024 MB x 8 = 8192 MB) of memory. The initial size would be 1.5 x 8192 = 12288 MB and the maximum size would be 3 x 12288= 36864 MB.

Now click on Set and hit OK. Restart your PC and launch Battlefield 5.

Opening ports can help direct the flow of internet traffic so you can connect easier

Setting up ports on a PC means accessing your router settings, and the steps are different for each router.

If you need help, we recommend that you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Every computer has standard ports that are most commonly used when they connect to the internet. Try opening (forwarding) these first:

Platform           UDP                 TCP

PC                      443                  80, 443, 8080

Once you open the standard ports, look below for game-specific port ranges for Battlefield V. Adding the additional ports can help with any connectivity problems you may be having.

Battlefield V Game Does Not Save

We received some cases where gamers are complaining that the game does not save itself.

hey, every time i start the game, i have to watch the trailer and play the first mission. also my graphics / audio settings are not saved. on the hard disk where bf5 & origin are installed, i still have over 300gb free space. can anyone help me? i’ve never had such a problem playing the demo or any other game, i’ve always closed the game properly

Source Battlefield Forum

Here is some workaround to get it working.

If you are receiving Windows 10 notification “unauthorized changes blocked

Open the “unauthorized changes blocked” from notification icon, it is on the bottom right of the screen

Click on the “unauthorized changes blocked” notification for Battlefield V
In “allow an app through the controlled folder access” window, click on the + and add an allowed app button
Find the bfv.exe file and select it, usually, you can find it as shown below

Click open.

In case you are not receiving Windows 10 notification “unauthorized changes blocked” or it disappeared.

Open Windows Defender Settings by typing windows defender in the windows search box

Click on Firewall and network protection

Now click on Allow an app through firewall

A new window will pop up, click on Change settings and then click on Allow another app, now click on Browse and find bfv launcher as shown below in pic, after you select bfv, click on Open

Click on Add and then OK.

Now if the game is still not saving then you have to create one local account (Do not use Microsoft account) and then start playing the game, it should save it.

To create local account open Windows 10 Settings by pressing Windows + I on the keyboard go to Accounts, go to Family or other people and click on Add  someone else to this PC and if it’s asking for an email do not enter any email click on I don’t have this person’s sign in information and then select Add a user without a Microsoft account then create a new username and password and click on Next. Make sure you make this local account an administrator. Once the account is created on the same account settings page click on the new local account which you created and then click on Change account type and change type from standard user to Administrator and hit OK. Restart your PC and launch Battlefield V. It should start saving the game.

PC completely Locks Up When Launching Battlefield V with Overclocking

Do Not Overclock or Turbo Boost a Processor or GPU.  In case you are opting for Overclocking or Turbo Boosting hardware in your computer, then we suggest resetting the processor or GPU to the manufacturer specifications, as doing so may prevent any crashing and freezing.

Also, disable Intel Turbo Booster from BIOS settings and in case you are not able to figure out contact your system manufacturer

Please keep in mind that higher settings maximize the workload for the system hardware overall, even if your system exceeds the minimum system requirement for the game.

Opting for reduced graphical features in the game is recommended if you are experiencing an issue with performance and stability.

Uninstall and Reinstall Battlefield V

If somehow game files have gone corrupt then uninstalling and reinstalling Battlefield 5 may fix the issue.

In order to uninstall the game, log in to the Origin and click on My Game Library, make a right click on Battlefield V and then click on Uninstall.

After uninstall restart the system and then reinstall the Battlefield V and launch the game.

Reinstall Windows 10

Sometimes corrupt OS does not allow you to play the game properly. Reinstalling Windows 10 may fix the issue.

Please note that you will lose all the data on your computer when you reinstall the OS.
